Billy Bevan Billy Bevan was one of Mack Sennett’s most durable comedians in the1920's. Australian by birth, Bevan came to America with the Music Hall Troupe, Pollard's Lilliputs, along with fellow comic Snub Pollard. After five years as a supporting comic at other studios, Bevan joined Sennett in 1919, and worked his way up to starring roles. Director Del Lord was responsible for many of Bevan’s wildest comedies. Bevan also teamed with Andy Clyde in a popular series of two-reelers. Bevan would be a top attraction in the Sennett ranks through the rest of the silent era, then work another two decades as a character actor in talkies.
